Four Years of Slime

TODAY MARKS a cheerless anniversary for your faithful correspondent. Four years ago, Media Matters president David Brock first took notice of my existence. Deciding, apparently, that I constituted a threat to his ideological agenda, he sought to discredit and silence me. Brock and his minions have been nipping at my heels ever since.
My appearance on The O’Reilly Factor on May 18, 2004 first put me on Mr. Brock’s radar screen. I had just written a cover story on billionaire Democrat donor George Soros in NewsMax magazine, and Bill O’Reilly wished to discuss it. Unhappily, Mr. Brock had launched his MediaMatters.org Web site only two weeks before, on May 3, so I had the honor of being one of his first targets.
Following are some highlights of the tedious dialogue into which Brock and company have drawn me over the last four years.

I get the impression these evil attack dogs have kept you busy running in circles, wrestling in the mud, and wearing yourself out.
Perhaps you made the mistake of arguing with demons–a bad mistake for an exorcist. They are not interested in the truth, so you can never win a civilized debate with them.
I get the impression Mark Steyn ran into a similar pack of attack dogs. He is on vacation now trying to recover. I hope the “happy warrior” comes back strong to the battle. But he may not.
I think your description of Obama as a trained professional Alinsky organizer is a key to understanding him and revealing him for what he is. He cuts his hair short, wears conservative suits, and uses the vocabulary of middle class values. But he is simply a fraud, following the Alinsky rule book to the letter.
I hope you write about that some more. You are one of the few who comes close to understanding what is happening in the Obama campaign.

To be attacked by that crew is the first sign that you are legitimate!
