ST. JUDE is the patron saint of lost or desperate causes. You pray to St. Jude when you have nowhere else to turn. You pray to him when you are trying to do the impossible. You pray to him when all the odds are against you. That’s where I am now. That’s why I’m praying to St. Jude.
In the past, I never would have written an article like this. My pride would have prevented me. In the past, I would have prayed first, then decided what to write later. I would have waited for the results of my prayers. If the results pleased me, then yes, I might have written something about them. But if the results displeased me, I would have kept silent.
In effect, I was bargaining with St. Jude. I was trying to make him a deal. “Answer my prayers, and I will give you free publicity,” I was telling the saint. “But, if you don’t answer my prayers, you’ll get nothing from me.”

St. Jude places a special requirement on his devotees. When you pray to him, you are supposed to publish the results. You are supposed to tell people what happened. |

It’s natural for people to bargain. But bargaining doesn’t work with St. Jude. He’s not a businessman, and he doesn’t need your business.
What St. Jude requires is loyalty, devotion and obedience, with heavy emphasis on the word obedience. St. Jude places a special requirement on his devotees. When you pray to him, you are supposed to publish the results. You are supposed to tell people what happened. You are supposed to tell them what the saint did for you. There are all sorts of ways to spread the word about St. Jude. You can do it the old-fashioned way, by word of mouth, or you can post messages on the Internet. But, one way or the other, you must spread the word. In so doing, you inspire others to pray to St. Jude. At least that’s the theory.
If I have learned one lesson, after nine years of praying to St. Jude, it is this: You cannot bargain with this saint. You cannot sit in judgment over him. It is not our place to judge whether St. Jude has answered our prayers to our satisfaction. When we pray to St. Jude, we must publish the results, whether we like them or not.

With this article, I am going one step further. I am announcing my novena to St. Jude in advance, before I have even finished it. This is the fifth day of my novena. There are four days to go. I have no idea how St. Jude will answer my prayers. I have no way of knowing if he will answer them at all. I do not know if my life will be better or worse when this novena is done. I do not know if my path will be clear or whether it will remain hidden from me. But whatever happens, I will announce the results on this blog.
I am praying for a nine-day miracle. I am praying for a turnaround in my fortunes. I am praying that my little publishing company Heraklid Inc. will succeed, and that I will earn enough money from my books to get back on my feet. And I am praying that St. Jude will make crystal clear, by the ninth day of this novena, whether or not he has chosen to grant my petition.
Whatever happens on the ninth day, I will announce it on this blog, even if it seems like bad news. I will trust that St. Jude has his own good reasons for doing what he does, even when I don’t understand his reasons. And I hope and pray that, whatever happens to me and my wife, and to our struggling little company, be it good or ill, that our story may serve to instruct and help others.

My Nine-Year Journey with St. Jude
Mr. Poe: What you have learned about St. Jude is also true about God. As a six-time cancer survivor, and someone raised in the Eastern Orthodox Christian faith, I can tell you I have not ever bargained with God. You may find that difficult or even impossible to believe but it’s true. I have always prayed, “Thy will be done” and “All I ask is for the strength to handle whatever it is You send my way.” For it had always been taught to me, the old Russian proverb, and I think many spiritual traditions hold this same philosophy, “That illness is a visitation from God” and it is present for me to slow down and teach me something. What may not be readily apparent. But I have learned amazing lessons with every occurrence. I have also heard people say “God doesn’t give us more than we can handle.” I don’t know about that. I have found with each recurrence I “handle” my cancer less well, less gracefully than the time before. But I don’t bargain. I ask for mercy and miracles. I have received them because I am still here, this side of the grass.
Your prayer has been answered Mr. Poe. “Perfect Fear” is an extraordinary, very scary book. I was frightened yet curious to turn each page. I could not stop reading it! If that is not success, what else could it be? I invite anyone reading this to run out and treat yourself to a great read even if you don’t think “horror” is your genre. If you love great writing, this book is for you. It’s suspenseful, exciting and mesmerizing. Plus you’ll learn something. (I don’t want to be a spoiler!) Well done, Mr.Poe!
I said a Novena to St Jude in mid October of 2012. Our business was struggling, we had had no business in months! I asked for his intercession to help us sell our furniture and for my husband to get some custom jobs. On the third day of the novena my husband was contacted for two quotes. He was hired for the first job by the ninth day of the novena and he closed the sale of the second job a few days after the novena was complete. The first week in November, we sold two pieces of furniture and my husband obtained two more jobs! I had not ever said a Novena before. I was desperate and hopeless so I turned to St. Jude. I left copies of the Novena at the church but I had not published my answered prayer. Thanks to your website, I will post my answered prayer here to spread the great works of St Jude. He is powerful and I am devoted!
I have been praying to St Jude for a promotion at my place of work. At the end of the Novena, a job opening was announced and I continued praying to St Jude and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Both times i have prayed to st jude i have had my prayers answered. He is an amazing Saint and i am very thankful for all that he has done. Thank You St Jude!
I prayed 9 days novena to St Jude to guide and overcome financial circumstances but was upset as I did not find any changes in my financial situation. But when I read Richard Poe’s article, I realised that we are not doing any business with St Jude. I have the faith that sure he will answer my prayers at the right time. Thank you St Jude for all your favors that you have done to us. We are human beings and lose our faith when we see that what we prayed for is not granted. Please pray for us.
I have been praying to St Jude and have seen significant progress with my situation personally and professionally. I’ve never been one to pray or believe in miracles, but St. Jude has given me signs that my prayers will be answered. You need to be patient, be grateful and have faith in God and St. Jude!

Mine happend in summer. my long time boyfriend and I fought badly that he broke up with me because his brother told him to do so to find if he really lovs me and he got with one of his girl bestfriends. i was hopeless that i would get him back from his bestfriend so i had no choice but pray. and a miracle happend and he came back to me!he planned to marrying me one day already. But lately this february i said mean things to him which caused his dad to find out and his dad told him to break up with me to see what will happend. and im praying again that i win him back. fore the words we argued about is not worth losing our long time relationship. i feel torn and empty. but i am hoping st. jude will save our relationship once again. :'(
The first time I prayed the novena of St. Jude was when I was studying for my nursing board exams. It helped me a lot also that I was praying at the same time with a friend of mine. St. Jude did not disappoint. I passed my board exams that year.
I remember another time when I wasn’t getting any jobs about two years ago. On the second day of the novena, I got a call for a job and again St. Jude did not disappoint.
I always come to him whenever I have difficulties, mostly about work.
Today, I started my first day of the novena again and I’m very hopeful and faithful that St. Jude will come to my aid and help me in this difficult situation I’m in right now.
I was never very religious. I do not go to church regularly. I believe that my relationship with the Lord and St. Jude is personal. As long as you have faith and believe that the Lord has good things in store for you, your life with go to the right path.
Was the poorest student in my class. I prayed to St. Jude and i got a job as soon i completed the novena. I continued praying and i got a better a better job after a very tricky interview with ver competitive opponents. After getting the job I ask St. Jude to intercede for me & they increase my salary which i had bargained for(i asked for too small because i was desperate). They increased my salary, i asked the Saint to pray for me and my salary be increased again after probation and it was increased. I again asked for the cheap means to reach my work place and I was exceptionally allowed in the managers’ van. And so many other miracles, St. Jude has achieved for from God. I so great dear ST. Jude. When all hope is gone, I turn to you. Oh God thank you Father. Thank you Jesus Christ. Thank you the Holy Spirit. However my life has turned for the worst.. I am going through the worst situation of my Life, still my faith is in you St. Jude to intercede for and I know you will. I looks so impossible and I feel like giving up please St. Jude I call for your immediate and miraculous intercession as you have always done. St. Jude pray for me. Mary mother of God, pray for me a sinner.
St. Jude has helped me tremendously and I will be eternally grateful for his intervention. I have asked for guidance, a better job, and clarification In my personal situations and I have to say that now I believe in miracles. Have Faith and patience. God Bless!
I’m not a catholic. I turned to St. Jude sometime back when I was in deep trouble, after having read about the saint on the internet, and he answered!! Since then I have been praying to Him and will continue to do so!
I started praying today to St. Jude and as I prayed I felt a sense of peace that my boyfriend wil come back .
I wish to thank St Jude for interceding with God to answer my prayer to reconcile with my ex boyfriend. On the 8th day I felt that I did get an answer showing me that my ex boyfriend might not be right for me. Although this was not what I was hoping for, I thank you for your guidance St Jude. Maybe there is hope for us in the future, just not right now.
I asked St Jude for help when my mortgage was in foreclosure and I was 3 months from loosing my home. That was a year ago and I am still in my home, with a reworked mortgage that is $400 less per month. I am tardy in proclaiming my thanks but I am thankful to Saint Jude. I still have many things to pray for but it’s easier to face those problem in my home that I love.
Last year I went through some seriously painful experiences. I did the St Jude novena and my prayers were answered by the end. They weren’t answered in the way I was asking but in a better way than I could have expected. Apparently he a knew what was better for me than I did. I never knew how to spread the word and this seemed like the perfect place. Anyway, I am going through another difficult time and am now on my second day of the novena. I have not seen any physical results yet but it has been giving me a renewed faith that there is hope for my situation which has given me a sense of peace.

I started praying to St. Jude when I met a young man who became my best friend. My mother never met him, never wanted to and made it clear she felt he was wrong for me. I tried to assuage her worries, assuring her we were only just friends, close friends but just friends. But soon enough we fell in love with each other. Yet she was adamant that he was wrong for me and when she saw how attached to each other we had grown she threatened to disown me. That is the only reason we are not together today. I love my family and I know that if I don’t have them in my life I would be unhappy. And I know that the way my mother was acting came from love that translated into fear for me – that I was naive and blinded by my feelings and not considering how my life would be if I were to marry this young man, who came from a different background to mine, was less financially stable and had been in some trouble with the law. We tried repeatedly to distance ourselves from each other. Time and time again, we would put time and space between us. It was difficult, extremely so. That’s when I started to pray to St. Jude. The first time, I was struggling with our separation, emotionally. I started a novena asking that God’s will be done, that if my friend was meant for me, to please change my mother’s feelings and give me her support, and that if he wasn’t, just to ease the pain of our separation. In the middle of the first prayer my friend contacted me. Time and time again St. Jude has interceded to bring me a sense of peace when I was feeling low and to show me, I believe, that this young man is “meant” for me even though he might not appear to be. I believe that the difficulties we go through now, the fact that this relationship isn’t easy or a given, is like a test to make sure we both really want this, and if it ever happens it would be the result of perseverance and sacrifice – enough work that when life throws it’s tribulations at us we’ll remember how much we put into each other and how important we are to each other. Time and time again I prayed to St. Jude as well as St. Mary, every time just asking that if it is God’s will for us to separate then to please just make the separation easier so I wouldn’t end up in despair, but every time being brought closer to each other. We are not together but we love each other still.
Lately I’ve been remiss in my prayers and this story is a reminder for me to keep praying and thanking St. Jude and St. Mary.
I started praying to St. Jude a few months ago, when I found myself in a relationship of sorts that was causing me a lot of pain. I fell in love with a man who my mother, with whom I have an amazing relationship, did not approve of. She felt that we were too different and that despite possible short-term happiness he would not give me the life I am accustomed to in the long-term and therefore we would not be happy together. She was certain of this. The situation was putting a lot of strain on my relationship with my mother. I am the kind of person that needs my family in my life. If I am ever to be with this man I would need them to approve. But I can’t seem to cut off contact with him. I am still in love with him and he is still in love with me, but we are not together. I constantly encourage him to see other women, who might make him happy. But he can’t. And to be honest, even though I encourage him, the idea hurts me to no end. So I pray to St. Jude, I pray that God’s will be done, that if His intention is for us to be together, then to soften my mother’s heart towards the man I love and help her give me her support, and if His intention is for us to be apart, then to ease the pain of separation and help us see it through and move on. The first novena to St Jude, I began when we had cut off contact. I was in a lot of emotional turmoil. The first or second prayer (I don’t recall) – I finished the prayer and within the hour the guy contacted me. Another time, my mother herself encouraged me to contact him, which was so out of character for her that I am certain St. Jude interceded. I have been remiss lately in my prayers and feel as a result things have gotten worst. I also didn’t post my prayer intentions and results – which I am doing now. I have also prayed to St. Mary. I want to get my mind right and focus on praying to St. Jude and St. Mary again, this time with more discipline, and I know that through their intercession, Jesus and God will help ease my pain.

I prayed to St Jude in late April of 2004 to become pregnant and have a baby. By the 9th day, I took a pregnancy test and was positive. My son is now 9 years old. This prayer does work.

St. Jude is the relative of Jesus Christ, besides being one of the apostles. Therefore I am always confident that my prayers would not remain unanswered, for St. Jude goes straight to Jesus and whispers my desperate needs into His ears. St Jude has helped me many times, mostly regarding my relationship issues.
Things that I have been praying for have not reached the final goal I prayed for, but they definitely did make big steps into changing myself in order that I could receive what I have been praying for.
Today is the Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I have finished a novena to it after I finished a novena to St Jude. On the second day of the Novena, I got news from my love via his friend whereas I realized he cares about me and 5 days afterwards I got news regarding a new job that I am still waiting results of.

I got a St. Jude novena accidentally in the newspaper and it’s my fate that I got this novena because God knew that I needed help, because I am going from a very difficult phase of my relationship with my boy friend and it’s almost over, my relationship with him. I thank St. Jude for his intercession in granting my husband an even better job after nine months of unemployment. This was the second time I made the novena. First time was six years ago for a job for myself which too was answered. Do not give up hope. I said the novena two or three times before it was answered. Believe. St. Jude never fails.

First time I ever prayed to St Jude. When I was a little girl around 10 years old I fell down roller skating and got a piece of glass in my hand… I didn’t tell anybody for a very long time. It hurt but I was afraid I guess… It was at the point that the skin grew over the small piece of glass and it really started to bother me… I prayed that the glass would fall out. The very next day, I was eating dinner and my mom noticed the small little bump on the inside of my hand. It was very hard to see but somehow she noticed it… Took me directly to the doctors office where it was removed. That is when I started to realize the power of St Jude Sacred Heart prayer. 10 years later I was in a very difficult situation. Was having major relationship issues with the father of my baby son. I found a Sacred Heart of Jesus Novena prayer in a newspaper published by somebody names Matt. I felt very compelled to cut this out of the newspaper and start to say this prayer for 9 days… At the time I was praying for happiness for my son so that my relationship would work out… Well, I guess St Jude and Sacred Heart of Jesus knew better then me because he didn’t renew my relationship but I met somebody else that week! I ended up marrying this man and have been in a loving relationship for the last 25 years. I still have the cut out piece of paper published by “Matt” that I keep in a bible near by. I have said my prayer on occasions of tough times and desperate situations. I have such a sense of faith when I say this prayer. I get a smile on my face and I know it is being heard and considered… My children play sports and on quite a few occasions I have shared this prayer with friends who children were hurt or injured or was going through situations and almost every single time the prayer worked for them. I had one mom call me and say Im in shock. I just came back from the Doctors office and they canceled my daughters surgery on her arm… It’s healing perfect and no longer needs it! We both know it was the prayer that saved this little girl from needing this surgery!! When hearing news about somebody going through a very upsetting situation I always share my Sacred Heart of Jesus Prayer with them. I immediately feel like I should share it with that particular person and that is what I am meant to do. Right now, I am going through a very terrible financial struggle that is very upsetting! Iam also in the process of starting a home based business… I am praying that this business will provide me with the funds that are needed to pull my family out of this mess this month… I feel that it is already starting to work because I have had a few small jobs… I am going to say this prayer for my family to get out of this mess and I feel the hope that my prayer will be answered. I have Faith in St Jude and Sacred Heart of Jesus. I felt very compelled to tell my story about the piece of glass in my hand and how I found the prayer in the magizine published by a ‘Matt” several years ago. I stumbled upon this website by nothing more than God’s guidance. My husband and I were high-school sweethearts. After 24 years together, and 13 years of marriage, he filed for divorce; the divorce was granted 2 months ago, and he has moved on with another woman.
Our children (We have 3, a 20-year-old son, and daughters, 12 and 9) and I are devastated. There were several women in the picture, but now there’s one, I think. Although there was adultery on both sides during the marriage, I surrendered my life to Christ, so I am forgiven. I’m starting the Novena today with full faith. I’m in desperate need of a miracle. I just want to say thank you to St. Jude! He gave me a miracle. I had to walk out of a job two weeks ago because I was not getting paid and the job was not what I thought it was. It was a difficult decision because I am a sole breadwinner and the job market right now is extremely tight (everyone gone on vacation). Money was also very tight, and bills kept mounting, and worst of all, my former employer gave me a bad reference. Miraculously, I was given an offer today! Against all odds!! In two weeks from my resignation. I could not be more thankful, and the offer came at the most opportune time. And what’s more is that the offer gave even better salary than I had in mind! I was praying for security because I have to support two people whom I love very much. Thank you, St. Jude! You showed me the way to the miracle. You gave me guidance. You helped me see and feel that there was something better waiting for me even when I felt hopeless. Thank you for Your blessing! I want to spread the word about St. Jude to everyone here as I want you to also receive the blessings of His miracles and love!
I am a three year survivor of breast cancer. I prayed to St Jude for my recent mammogram to be good. It was. Thank you St. Jude.
St. Jude has answered many prayers for me. The first time I did a novena was when I was living in a small cramped apartment with my mother. The manager told me she’d be on the waiting list for 6+ years and I was devastated because I wanted to live my own life and could not at the time, so I did a novena to St. Jude, I was desperate. On the 7th day of the novena, the manager happened upon me in the laundry room and told me that there was an unexpected opening and miraculously an apartment had opened up for my mother!
I have received unexpected financial blessings and been healed quicker than expected from post-surgery complications. I give regularly to the research hospital to honor St. Jude and all the beautiful children helped daily in his name.
I have no doubt that St. Jude will grant my petition this time as well. I am praying that the undercover assignment my bf is on will end this week. He is an UC agent assigned to a regional narcotics unit and has been under for 3 months. He is stressed daily and having a difficult time walking that fine line between worlds. I am praying for this case to end this week, successfully, without harm to my bf so he can come home to lead his family.

Last year was the first time I prayed to St. Jude and within a couple of days I was offered a job. I again started praying the novena and the 9 days have past without my petition answered. Nevertheless, I continue praying to St . Jude, Jesus Chrit, and his blessed mother to guide me in this time of need.
The first time I prayed to St. Jude was in the beginning of March 2014. My sister and me were having visa problems. We both have lived on foreign ground all our lives and when the issue of our visa came up we had to go back to our home country leaving our mom and brother behind. This was very difficult for us. Our mom was doing her best to get us back but being of a certain age we weren’t able to acquire a visa. We then started the 9-day Novena to St. Jude. On the 4th day our prayers were answered. A family friend helped us and we were able to get back to our family. Since then I’ve prayed to St. Jude at every difficult moment. Again I prayed for my accountancy exam- I’ve done a degree in art and am now pursuing business so the shift was really difficult. The results are still to be announced but the paper went amazingly. After that I was due for surgery. I was really worried but everything went well again. There’s usually pain after surgery -I barely felt any. I’m healing really well and am very thankful.
I also prayed for a particular friend-we were insanely close but due to some differences weren’t in touch for a while. He knew about my surgery but not all the details. After I gained consciousness from the surgery he and a few other close friends greeted me. It was amazing because I really did not expect to see him and it felt really great.
There are many other times as well. I’m right now praying for a petition extremely significant to me.
Thank You St. Jude for all prayers answered- others and mine. Please give me strength to continue praying even when everything seems so wrong.

I was laid off beginning of February. The first two months or so I wasn’t searching for any jobs. I was just trying to take it easy and enjoy the time off. I had money saved up, so I wasn’t in trouble financially at that time.
Then after that two-month period I started looking for jobs. I’ve applied to numerous jobs. Not one ever called me back for an interview.
I couldn’t understand why, because I have a Bachelors Degree and over 3 years experience in Management. About 5 months go by and here we are now in August of 2014… finally, last week, Thursday, I just broke down. I cried my eyes out for a good hour probably. Then, after I got all my frustration out, I decided to stop being the “victim” and do something about it.
That Thursday I started praying to St Jude to please help me get a job. The next day Friday I check my email and I have an email from one of those Job Sites. It was a job posting about a Managers position at one of my favorite stores to shop at! The thing that boggles my mind is I’ve never even heard of this Job Site nor did I sign up to be part of their mailing list! I truly believe this is a miracle from St Jude. So I ended up applying for that job and another job I liked.
The next day I get an email from one of the jobs that I have an interview for Monday! Then on Sunday I get a phone call for that Management position that I have an interview for Wednesday!
THANK YOU SAINT JUDE for the opportunity! I am on my 6th day of Novena today. I am hoping that I will get hired by one of these two companies!

I had an impossible petition on behalf of a friend in the throws of depression. A miracle was needed to bring an intervention and help from family miles away with whom I had no contact. St Jude has interceded thrice already thus far and I thank him in advance that the matter will be seen through to its conclusion.
With family coming through and for the strength that will be drawn from them when they meet and this darkness will be lifted. Hope will prevail. And joy abound. St Jude you are truely the patron saint of hopeless cases. I thank you for your grace. I will always encourage devotion to you for your intecessory prayers through the sacred heart of Jesus to our father in heaven. Thank you for your prayer to save my friend
I still believe in you, St. Jude. For even when all hope seems lost and the waves crash against the boat, if we but have faith in our Lord his mighty hand prevails. Your intercession, St. Jude, will prevail through the sacred heart of Jesus.
Glory be to God the Father and out Lord Jesus Christ for giving us intercessors like Saint Jude the great. I don’t exactly remember the first time I prayed to saint Jude. What I do know is that I was in high school when I had this strange attack in the night which was believed to be epilepsy (at least by those who were around). I was introduced to this prayer and to the Glory of God I have been completely healed of this belittling disease. Last month, I had a job interview which didn’t go well with me at all. Once again I called on St. Jude, the Intercessor for lost and desperate cases, and I have my appointment letter as I write now. Just want you to join me in saying a big THANK YOU to saint Jude!!!
My Middle name is Jude. My mother who passed away this year in March 2014 gave me this name when I was baptized. She told me that I must always pray to St Jude in times of need for he is the patron saint of desperate cases.
I have always prayed to St. Jude right from the time I was a child and continue to do so even today from helping me pass in my exams, to keeping me safe from danger, getting a job, a safe flight etc…St. Jude has always answered my prayers no what.
I have another prayer to make to St. Jude this time and I hope he will help me out like always.

I started to pray the Novena today. I am praying that my husband choses our marriage and our family that we have built for the last 11years and does not want a divorce.
Please St. Jude help me restore my marriage and bring my husband home to his family.

and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to
succour me in my necessity.
There is none that can withstand your power. Oh show me here you

recourse to Thee (3 times). Thank you for mercy towards me and

that the request will be granted and the prayer must be published.
I just prayed the St. Jude Novena and this burst of sunlight entered my office. I already know my prayers have been heard and will get granted. I trust this week will be the beginning of fantastic and financially lucrative life for many years to come. Me and my loved ones are already grateful. Thank you!
I am not a Catholic but somehow was led to pray the novena prayers during the most difficult times of our lives. We are struggling financially, couldn’t even afford to bring our son to a doctor when he was screaming so loud because he has a really bad headache.
There was no peace at home as my husband and I were always fighting because of our financial needs.
I have been praying novena prayers to St. Jude for almost two weeks now. Although we haven’t been able to see a clear breakthrough, I prayed for my son’s headache to be gone without us having to go to the hospital, or lead us to a friend who would lend us some money for a few days until we got our salaries.
My prayer was answered almost immediately. Within minutes, my son stopped crying, and 30 minutes later he was able to sleep well.
I will continue my devotion to St. Jude as my patron of my impossible situation, and I know that God through St. Jude’s intercession will soon bring us out from our difficulties.

Today is the ninth day. I am asking and I am waiting for the miracle I need. I will continue praying and asking to receive.
